Lisa McCoy, became the first woman in Rotary Club District 7010, comprising of Central Ontario and Eastern Quebec, to receive the Citation for Meritorious Service Award. She received it for her work raising money to purchase bikes for rural children in Cambodia so they can get to school.

Donning The Mask: The Bracebridge Phantom

Nine year old Colton Mocon is the official mascot of the Bracebridge Phantoms of the GMHL. He was assaulted by a woman fan from the rival Rama Aces during a Phantoms home game. He was elbowed in the face by the fan resulting in the OPP being called to the scene. Mocon has been dressing up as the Phantom since the team was founded last year. He was inspired to become a mascot by the famed Green Men of the Vancouver Canucks.

Marlies In Muskoka

The Toronto Marlies visited Muskoka for a weekend of team building exercises and took part in a practice at the Gravenhurst Centennial Centre. The team has a new head coach with Steve Spott. it also marked one of the first practices for former Maple Leaf John-Michael Liles who cleared waivers and was assigned to the junior club.
